Writing at St Aloysius

Our writing curriculum provides opportunities for children to develop as independent, confident and successful writers. We want our pupils to be able to write fluently, developing their own writer’s voice, as they progress throughout school. We recognise that spoken language underpins the development of Writing and provide opportunity for oracy throughout our writing curriculum. We also recognise that the development of vocabulary and grammar is essential to being a successful writer and provide pupils with a wealth of opportunities to explore and develop their use.

We are proud to be a Ready Steady Write school, offering a broad and balanced writing curriculum for all learners from Reception to Y6. This is a high-quality programme which cultivates a love of Writing through vocabulary rich literature (known as Vehicle Texts). The units of work follow a clear pathway of progression through engaging, vocabulary-rich texts, with a wealth of varied writing opportunities throughout the units. Several Vehicle Texts have strong thematic links across the curriculum, in areas of Science, History and Geography.

Each Ready Steady Write unit provides:
