Learning Support

Welcome to Cardiff Class.

Teacher: Mrs Phillips

Support Staff: Mrs Gilbert and Mrs Lloyd.

We are Year 1 and Year 2.

PE is on Thursday and Friday and your child should wear a PE kit for school that day. Please tie a double knot if your child wears laced trainers.

Snack money is £2 per half term or £12 per year and should be paid via the ParentPay app.

Smiley Awards.

We can earn smiley awards for many things in school and love to hear the ping when Miss adds them to our chart! Here are some of the things we can get them for:

A smiley every time we bring our book to school (5 a week!)

5 smilies for reading our book 3 times.

Extra smilies can be given for good listening, creative thinking, excellent manners, helping others, working hard and for being the best class in assembly!

The awards are 150 = bronze, 300 = silver, 450 = gold and 600 = platinum and 750 = diamond. We visit Miss Wrigley for each award.

Your child should read their phonics reading book 3 times (on different days). The first time helps them to read new words, the second helps to become familar with the story and on their third read they can read it like a storyteller.

Please write in their reading record each time and tell Mrs Phillips and Mrs Gilbert if the book is finished. When it is finished we will change it for a new book. Your child can also choose their own story from our Key Stage 1 library. They may be unable to read this independently, so it is a great opportunity to read some lovely new stories together!

At home we can practice our number facts by logging onto Numbots using our username and password from inside our reading records.

Please check Seesaw regularly for messages or homework that links to your child’s learning in class. Although there is a messaging facility, this may not be checked every day and will not be checked after 5pm or at weekends,  and so if your message is urgent, please call or email the school office.

Cardiff’s extra-curricular club this half term is ‘Lucky Dip’ with a different theme each Tuesday. You can join by filling in the form on the app.
