RSHE at St Aloysius

The Governors at St Aloysius Catholic Primary School has adopted the ‘Journey In Love’ programme to support Relationships and Sex and Health Education (RHSE) throughout the school (Reception to Year 6)

As part of our commitment to you, we held a meeting for the parents and carers of the whole school community when we launched this programme. Each Autumn term we hold a meeting for the parents of Year 5 and 6 to discuss the programme in more detail. If you require any further information or clarification on this part of the curriculum please contact Mrs O’Brien (RE Lead) or Miss Wrigley (Headteacher).

An aspect of the mystery of love is taught in each year group

Reception: God loves each of us in our uniqueness

Year 1: We meet God’s love in our family

Year 2: We meet God’s love in the community

Year 3: How we live in love

Year 4: God loves us in our differences

Year 5: God loves me in my changing and development

Year 6: The wonder of God’s love in creating new life

As with all aspects of learning, children are naturally curious and many will have questions related to their lessons. Opportunities to discuss questions form part of the lessons are treated with care and understanding. The programme ‘Journey In Love’ highlights the importance of parental input and children will be told to discuss what they have learnt at home.

Please take a look at the overview below to see what is covered in each year group.
